Artist inspiration

Another one of my inspirations for this project was an artist on instagram who creates Lino cuts of animals. My final character design very much resonates with this style and i really loved the outcome. Throughout lockdown i had been enjoying these illustrations very much but didn’t realise quite how inspired i was until i began mimicking the Lino cut technique in my own designs

One of my key inspirations throughout this project has been Owen Davey. Although my animation does not mirror his style i found his animated sequences as well as bold and colourful designs really unique. What i took from his work was that illustrating a character doesn’t necessarily mean they haft to be extremely realistic in any way. Instead that can be unproportional and follow more of a shape rather than be an illustrated replica of the source material. As a result i really enjoyed playing around with my animation because some of the things my dog does would be physically and gravitationally impossible but it makes for a really fluid and fun animation.

I think I prefer the sequence I made without the drawn in puppy sequence
